Ilkhom Otaboevich Otajonov was born on February 18, 1982, in the Shovot district of Khorezm region. In 1999, he graduated from the specialized boarding school in Shovot district. From 2000 to 2006, he studied at the Tashkent Medical Academy, Faculty of Medical Prevention. In 2006–2008, he continued his studies in the Master’s program in Nutrition Hygiene at the Tashkent Medical Academy. From 2009 to 2012, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Department of Children, Teenagers and Nutrition Hygiene of the Tashkent Medical Academy.
He began his professional career in 2012 as an assistant at the Department of Children, Teenagers and Nutrition Hygiene of the Tashkent Medical Academy. Between 2012 and 2017, he served as the leader of the primary organization of the “Kamolot” Youth Social Movement at the academy. In 2019–2021, he was a doctoral researcher at the Tashkent Medical Academy and simultaneously served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medical Prevention and Public Health.
In 2021–2022, he continued working as an assistant at the Department of Children, Teenagers and Nutrition Hygiene while also serving as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medical Prevention and Public Health. In 2022–2023, he worked as Head of the Marketing and Student Practice Department of the Tashkent Medical Academy. From 2023 to 2025, he served as Dean of the First Faculty of Medicine. Since July 1, 2025, he has been serving as Dean of the First Faculty of Medicine at the Tashkent State Medical University and concurrently as an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health.
Currently, he is conducting research toward a doctoral dissertation titled “Scientific substantiation of professional and organizational forms of activity of general practice nurses in family polyclinics.” Fifteen scientific articles have been prepared, six of which have been published in neighboring foreign countries.
During his scientific and pedagogical career, he has published 147 scientific works, including 37 in international journals abroad. Twenty-seven articles have been published in reputable national scientific journals. He has authored 10 teaching-methodological manuals, 2 textbooks, 4 учебные пособия (teaching aids), 1 BGU, 4 DGU, and 2 monographs.
In 2011, he successfully defended his Candidate of Sciences dissertation titled “Hygienic substantiation of student nutrition in the modern period of development,” and in 2021, he defended his Doctor of Sciences dissertation titled “Medical-biological substantiation of a low-protein diet for patients with chronic kidney disease.”
More than 120 scientific and popular science works have been published based on his research, including 60 scientific articles, 1 textbook, 1 teaching manual, 4 monographs, 10 methodological manuals, 1 patent, technical specifications for two new food products, and more than 50 popular science articles.
Under Ilkhom Otajonov’s supervision, two Candidate of Sciences dissertations have been defended. He currently supervises one Doctor of Science researcher, five PhD researchers, and master’s students. He actively works with gifted students; under his mentorship, one recipient of the Presidential Grant and the Ibn Sina State Scholarship has been trained, and several students have become winners of international and national Olympiads.
He serves as the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan SD coordinator for Nutrition Hygiene, Director of the Uzbekistan Nutritionists Association, and National Consultant to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
